Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Help Families Celebrate Holiday Season with CBS Concert Special

Country power couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood plan to spread some holiday cheer this December with a televised concert for fans.

The couple will return to CBS on Dec. 20 for a one-hour special titled “Garth & Trisha Live! A Holiday Concert Event.”

To make the event unique, Brooks and Yearwood said they would play songs requested by their fans.

After Yearwood announced the event on Instagram, fans jumped at the opportunity. Many requested holiday classics such as “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “Mary Did You Know,” “Oh Holy Night,” and “Little Drummer Boy.”

The TV special is not the first time Brooks and Yearwood decided to help families during the pandemic. In April, the country singers provided an at-home concert special that also aired on CBS.

Brooks recently released his album FUN on Nov. 20.

The couple is also gearing up to celebrate the holiday season with their family.

In 2019, Yearwood told GOOD MORNING AMERICA that while Thanksgiving is a busy holiday, they try to slow down around Christmas to spend time as a family.

“I have family in Georgia, and we have family in Oklahoma—so it’s kind of a progressive Christmas where we go to everybody and see everybody,” Yearwood said. “It’s a lot more quiet.”

Brooks, 58, has three daughters from a previous marriage; Taylor, 28, August, 26, and Allie, 24.

“The only thing we really do as a family that we have to do is… decorate the tree together,” Yearwood said. “Now that they’re grown and [are] living in different places, we still make it that the tree doesn’t get decorated until we’re together. So, it might go up and be bare for a week or two until we can get everybody together, and we’ll make sure to do that.”

“Garth & Trisha Live! A Holiday Concert Event” will take place on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 8:30 pm ET.
