Do you know how to hear God’s voice? Grammy award winner CeCe Winans shared how she learned to discern between what God says versus her own thoughts.
“The more you know the word, the more you know His character,” Winans said in a video for TBN. “We’re living in a time where people just want to feel goosebumps, and they think that’s the voice of God. No, you get messed up just going on goose bumps.”
“I was probably about, I don’t know if I was 17 — I don’t know how old I was…Me and my brother, BeBe, we were about to sign a contract, and we’re sitting in the office, and BeBe is like, ‘CeCe, come on, let’s sign the contract,'” Winans recalled. “And I was just like, ‘I don’t know…I don’t feel like I’m supposed to.’ I started crying. He was like, ‘Well, come on, what’s the big deal? What’s the big deal?'”
“So, [I said], ‘All right,’ and I’m signing it in tears. And that was the worst five years that I had to walk through,” she revealed. “I learned in that moment — it was just like that was the Spirit of God telling me, warning me, don’t ever be pressured to do something when you already know. And so I really learned from that. I mean, it was a hard lesson, but I realized that that’s the way God was talking to me.”
Winans continues to follow God’s voice, and her career proves His faithfulness. She’s racked up 17 Grammy wins with several No. 1 tracks.
“When you focus on His purpose and delight yourself in Him, then your desires will line up with Him. And when your desires don’t line up with Him, you know it’s not Him,” the Grammy winner said during an appearance on TBN’s BETTER TOGETHER. “It’s following Him that you’re guaranteed to end up where you’re supposed to be.”
Winans’ latest track, “Come Jesus Come,” is all about the “powerful love of God — a love that’s always ready to meet you where you are.”
“My hope is for people to experience that love of Christ and know He’s coming back for them. If your heart is open, Christ will reveal Himself to you,” Winans shared on social media.
She’s also in the middle of her More Than This Tour, which will take her across the U.S. and abroad to countries Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and South Africa.
“God is moving on this tour!!” Winans shared in a post on social media.
