How PIONEER WOMAN Ree Drummond Feels After Daughter’s Big News

PIONEER WOMAN Ree Drummond is going to be a grandma! The cooking star is sharing her excitement about the new addition to her family in an interview with PEOPLE.
“Gosh, it feels totally different than I thought it would feel,” she said. “Since we just kind of became empty-nesters, Ladd and I feel like we just finished raising our kids — not even finished! A couple of them are in college, so we’re still raising our kids.”
Drummond’s oldest daughter, Alex, 27, and her husband, Mauricio Scott, shared the exciting news with Drummond on Mother’s Day.
“We weren’t necessarily in a big rush to enter the grandparent stage,” Drummond laughed. “I thought when I heard the news eventually, whenever that would be, that I would feel more, ‘Oh no, here it comes.’ But instead, what I think about most is — this is my honest answer — just how happy I am for my daughter and her husband.”
Mauricio and Alex have been married for 3 years as of May 1.
Drummond continued, “Thinking back on the days when my kids were babies and those years, I mean, I can hardly look at old pictures because it was just such a precious, fun time. I’m just so happy that she is going to enter into that period of her life. There’s just nothing better in the world.”
This week, Alex announced her pregnancy to the world. In a sweet Instagram post with a photo of her, her husband and an ultrasound photo, she said, “We can’t wait to meet you, little one. ? Baby Scott joining the party this winter! Thank you, Lord, for this precious gift.”
“Granny. Granny Ree Ree? Maybe just Ree Ree. We’ll wait and see!” Drummond posted following their announcement.

Drummond’s daughter, Alex Drummond Scott, and her husband, Mauricio Scott, are expecting their first child.
“Alex and Mauricio just shared some big news today, and they asked me to share it here with you, since many of you have read my blog since my oldest was about nine years old,” Drummond wrote on her blog. “Rather than just come out with the news right away, though, I think I’ll let my perfect granddog George be the first to share. Check out his bandana…”
George is wearing a sage green bandana with the words “big bro” written on it.
“Yes, it’s true! Alex and Mauricio are expecting—and I don’t mean a puppy, though I wouldn’t put it past them (or me) to treat news of an upcoming new puppy in the exact same way as a pregnancy announcement,” Drummond continued.
