Is Tim Allen Rebooting TOOL TIME?
By Movieguide® Staff
In the most recent episode of the final season of the LAST MAN STANDING, actor Tim Allen reprised Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor from the comedian’s former show HOME IMPROVEMENT.
The crossover was highly anticipated after Allen announced that he would play both characters in season 9 of LAST MAN STANDING. In the episode, Taylor wants to meet Allen’s current character, Mike Baxter, because he heard that they look alike.
Mike tells Tim, “You might want to think of rebooting that TOOL TIME,” referencing Taylor’s TV show in HOME IMPROVEMENT.
More than one fan thought that could be a tease to a reboot of HOME IMPROVEMENT’s TOOL TIME.
Soon, the excitement was all over the internet.
“Did this episode of @LastManStanding just tease a reboot of tool time?” one fan noted.
“Yes, Yes YES Reboot Tool Time,” said another.

Another added: “Please tell me Tool Time is coming back. Sounded like a hint to me..?”
Other fans merely appreciated the nostalgic return of Allen’s HOME IMPROVEMENT character from the beloved show that ran from 1991 to 1999 on ABC.
“Tonight’s episode of #LastManStanding hit me in the feels. It also made me realize how much I truly miss #HomeImprovement. #ToolTime,” one person said on Twitter.

Allen previously said that playing two of his characters was oddly emotional.
Movieguide reports:
“It was very peculiar to do both parts, I’ll tell you that. It was challenging for me to do both parts and kind of emotional,” Allen told Entertainment Weekly.
Allen said that much of his emotion came from his fond memories of HOME IMPROVEMENT co-star Earl Hindman, who died in 2003. Hindman played Allen’s neighbor, Wilson. The ABC comedy series ran from 1991 to 1999.
“I adored the man and we kind of brought that up in the story,” Allen described. “I started thinking about all the history I had with that TV show, how I compare it to my life on this show. It’s all about loss, is all I kept saying in that episode.”
As LAST MAN STANDING also comes to an end, Allen shared that their last day of filming was “horrible,” because the cast and crew were sad to leave the set.
Both HOME IMPROVEMENT and LAST MAN STANDING feature faith elements such as prayer, church, and family values.
