Jenny Marrs Shares ‘Emotional’ Family Home Renovation: ‘A Joy to Do Together’

By Movieguide® Contributor

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs is sharing the process of her family’s home renovations, from how they involved the kids to some surprisingly emotional moments.

“We sat down as a family before we started our remodel to talk through how the spaces within our home were working for each of us,” Marrs wrote in an Instagram post, listing off the requests her children made for things like a bed with a swing, a horse (“to which we laughed because we had no plans to actually fulfill that request”), and a playroom.

Marrs continued, “The kids were all involved heavily in design decisions…They chose paint colors, tile, bedding and we went on many antique-store shopping trips together for the perfect decor. Creating these new spaces was a joy to do together.”

“The transformation of our new main suite was a big one and the most emotional change for me as a momma,” she wrote in another Instagram post, explaining that the room had served as a nursery for her kids.

Marrs explained, “I didn’t realize how emotional this process would be but, as with all things in life, I just had to walk through the grief of what was and embrace the beauty of what is.”

She also revealed that her daughter, Charlotte, finally did get that horse she had asked for — and the whole family worked together to create a stable for Sadie, the newest addition to the farm.

“This new stable was a labor of love by our whole family and makes me smile every time I glance out the kitchen window and see it in the pasture,” Marrs shared. “I was never a horse person, but Sadie has converted me. Watching her and Char together is like watching all the best parts of childhood: pure happiness, sweet innocence and unconditional love.”

In a final post in her series about the home renovations, Marrs wrote, “In your home…You should be surrounded by the people and things you love. Your people should feel welcome and safe. There should be intentional spaces carved out for the ones you cherish. And you should display the things that bring you joy. Don’t overthink it. It really is that simple.”

Marrs often shares messages about creating a home with her followers. Movieguide® previously reported:

FIXER TO FABULOUS’ Jenny Marrs is prioritizing life’s beautiful moments over a “perfect” house.

“Our house is not a museum,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s a living, breathing, soul-filling place where our kids learn what we value most. And we most value the five of them.”

Marrs continued, “If I value a perfectly orderly and clean home at all times, I can’t possibly encourage art projects at the kitchen table. If I value quiet and serenity, I can’t possibly embrace impromptu dance parties with music blaring and instruments being played. If I value a rigid schedule, I can’t possibly be spontaneous and seek adventure.”

“I want our home to be a place for new memories and old traditions to intertwine. I want it filled with the sweet sounds of laughter and celebration, as well as the mundane in-between moments that create a beautiful and full life,” she concluded.
