JEOPARDY! Host Ken Jennings Reveals What He Does Away From the Show

By Movieguide® Contributor

JEOPARDY! co-host Ken Jennings has some exciting things going on when he’s not on the game show, including releasing an audiobook for kids.

Jennings trades off hosting with actress Mayim Bialik; he’s set to host through April 28, with Bialik taking back the reins on May 1.

When he’s not hosting JEOPARDY!, Jennings is hard at work on his other projects, including a series of books for children called “Ken Jennings’ Junior Genius Guides.” The books cover topics like U.S. presidents, dinosaurs and outer space.

Jennings recently tweeted that the first audiobook from the series, “Ken Jennings’ Junior Genius Guides: Greek Mythology,” is available on Audible.

“Read by me!” he wrote. “And you can pre-order all seven books,” adding a link to the Audible page.

Jennings also has another book on the way, “100 Places To See After You Die.”

“Exciting announcement: my new book comes out in June!” he tweeted. “It’s a travel guide to the afterlife, from ancient Egypt, all the way up to The Good Place. So you might want to order it soon, JUST IN CASE.”

According to Simon & Schuster’s website, “This comprehensive index of 100 different afterlife destinations was meticulously researched from sources ranging from the Epic of Gilgamesh to modern-day pop songs, video games, and Simpsons episodes.”

Between writing books and hosting JEOPARDY!, many fans have wondered how Jennings has time to sleep at night. He provided a hilarious answer in a recent tweet.

“I go into one of those freezer cases from the Alien movies when Mayim is hosting, and vice versa,” Jennings joked to a fan who asked how he spent his time offscreen.

Movieguide® previously reported on Jennings:

JEOPARDY! made a very exciting announcement about the permanent host of the game show. Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will be returning to the show as permanent co-hosts.

“Please join us in welcoming the official co-hosts of Jeopardy!, @kenjennings and @missmayim! We couldn’t be more thrilled,” the JEOPARDY! Twitter account posted.

Bialik and Jennings have been co-hosting the game show since October.

“Mayim and Ken are both extraordinarily talented and simply lovely humans,” executive producer Michael Davies shared. “They support the staff and each other. They love and respect this institution of a television program. In return, the staff and I are honored to work alongside them.”

JEOPARDY! is also launching a few new exciting projects, including a weekly podcast hosted by the show’s producers.

“The fact is, we have so much JEOPARDY! to make, and so many plans for the future, that we always knew we would need multiple hosts for the franchise, and we are just so grateful that Mayim and Ken stepped in and stepped up to put the show in a position to succeed,” Davies explained. “And succeed it has.”
