Sadie Robertson Huff said God had a “funny way of working things out” when it came to her and husband Christian’s love story.
“I get so many DMs about how me and Christian met, and we’ve told this story before, but I wanted to come back and share it again,” Robertson Huff said in a new Instagram video, then joked. “He’s working right now, he couldn’t join the video, so I thought I’d just do it.”
The joke? Christian was sitting behind her, with just his arms showing, making it look like they were actually Robertson Huff’s arms.
“We actually met down at the beach, which is so crazy,” the DUCK DYNASTY star recalled. “I was with my friends, and he was just down there with his family, and it was just really, you know, love at first sight. I saw him, I thought he was so cute, but the day before, I told my friends I was done dating because I just needed a break, but God has a funny way of working things out.”

As she retold their love story, Christian gestured and moved his hands around, making his wife laugh and duck, showing he was behind her the whole time.
“HAHAH couldn’t hold it together 😅😅,” Robertson Huff captioned the video. “also, [sister] @rebeccalorobertson didn’t notice anything off and I’m a little concerned by that LOL.”
The couple met in 2018 when they were officially introduced by their respective siblings, who were already friends.
“I knew about Christian, but I just knew him as my sister’s [Bella Robertson] friend who I’d never met, so I didn’t think much into it,” Robertson Huff told PEOPLE in a 2019 interview.
They exchanged information and began growing closer, so by the time they went on their first official date, she knew Christian was “the one.”
Christian was also sure of their relationship early on; in an episode of Robertson Huff’s “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, he shared, “When I was actually a freshman in high school, I told one of the guys that I was going to marry Sadie.”
“He did not tell me that when we were dating,” she added. “We were a week away from our wedding, and one of his friends texted him. He was like, ‘Dude this is so cool, like, I remember freshman year when you told us on the baseball field you were going to marry her one day, and like you’re literally marrying her.”
The Huffs’ love story is an example of God’s plan working in our lives in “funny” — and perfect — ways.
