Jesse Hutch, Danica McKellar to Lead Great American Pure Flix Advent Devotionals

Great American Pure Flix is releasing weekly Advent devotionals led by some of the streaming service’s top stars this Christmas season.

Dropping each Sunday of Advent, talent including Jesse Hutch, Lucas Black, Karen Kingsbury and Danica McKellar will share a special “Advent Wreath” devotional.

Hutch told Christian Headlines, “It’s fun, and it’s light, but it will give you just enough that you can reflect. Maybe it will go with you throughout the day.”

In his video, he reminded viewers to turn their focus on other people this Christmas season.

“For me, the Christmas spirit is actually belief in Jesus Christ in Scripture,” Hutch said. “So during the holiday season, that’s—in our family—just another reason for us to focus not on ourselves but on others…Christmas is always a reminder of helping those around you.”

“You can go down to the local homeless shelter and serve soup. You can go through your closet, take clothes out, and donate them,” he added. “I mean, there’s so many different ways in our first-world perspective, that we can be more helpful.”

Hutch puts this mindset into practice, teaching his three children “to shift our personal outlook from a self-centeredness to an outward view.”

This Christmas, the actor and his family plan to host a party for some friends. His children will help serve the guests.

“We’re going to have them help us prep food. And while the night goes on, they can go around and clean dishes, ask people if they need a drink,” he said.

He wants them to see “what it takes to serve other people.”

Hutch recently starred in the new Great American Family movie, A CHRISTMAS BLESSING.

A brief synopsis of the film reads, “Renowned TV star Mandy Gilmore (Loughlin) says goodbye to her hit culinary series, A World of Food, with plans to travel the globe dining in all 142 Michelin star restaurants. Before jetting to Paris, Mandy stops in Milwaukee with the deed to her deceased aunt’s food pantry, Angel’s Fare, recently purchased by adjacent business owner, Adam Carraway (Tupper). A simple transaction. Until pantry volunteer, Otto Nessen (Hutch) reminds all that Aunt Susie’s love of cooking was truly love of feeding and inspires one more holiday feast for those who need it most. Haul out the holly! For we need a little Christmas now.”

Hutch recently opened up about his faith during a recent interview with Movieguide®:

Throughout his career, Hutch said that faith has remained the one constant in his life.

“I think faith is for me, is always an ongoing lifestyle, it’s a choice. It’s being open to learn, it’s being willing to be wrong,” he said. “That is the basis that I springboard everything off of. It’s the only constant that’s been in my life since I was young, that doesn’t just change its opinions and its ideas because I feel different. It doesn’t change because of today’s politics. It doesn’t change because of my circumstance, whether it’s great or challenging or horrible. It’s a constant that is always coming at me. And I apply that to my everyday life—running into strangers, my work, my marriage, my finances, raising my kids.”

“It’s always there. It’s always kind of this guiding star, so to speak,” he continued. “I believe that God wants us all healed. I believe that we weren’t created to live in just this, just muddy, horrible disaster. You know what I mean? Yes, we all go through that, and that’s life, but, man, there’s, there’s something great on the other side of that mess. So just keep on going. Don’t give up.”
