As Christian artist Lecrae wraps up his last tour, he reflected on his humble beginnings to months on a tour bus and the hardships of being away from family.

“I think being on the road like this, it’s a lot,” Lecrae posted on Instagram. “Twenty years, I’ve been sleeping in a coffin for months at a time, on a bus, jumping up and down on my knees, missing games, having to deal with parenting on the phone and FaceTime and having these incredible experiences that I don’t get to share with my family.”

But the four-time Grammy winner isn’t taking for granted the “phenomenal” touring experiences.

“It’s not bittersweet. It’s just sweet,” the father of three stated. “Who gets to go from city to city to city, encouraging people, sharing your heart, sharing your faith?”

“I’ve seen people who saw me in Germany in 2017 and now are seeing me in Atlanta in 2025,” the “Your Power” singer recalled. “I’ve seen people whose first concert of mine was when they were 11 years old, and now they’re 25. I’ve seen people whose parents took them to a show, and now they’re introducing me to their kids. It’s mind-blowing.”

The Texas native hasn’t forgotten his roots either as he recalled starting out in the business, going on what was “supposed” to be a tour.

“We were passing out flyers on the street telling people to come inside so they could hear a concert,” he said. “It was a disaster. We did a show in an empty pool at an apartment complex. So I never take it for granted.”

“A lot of young artists are going straight to the tour bus and man, you know, they’re missing out on something amazing,” the 46-year-old said “They’re missing out on the build.”

Lecrae assured fans that this isn’t retirement. He will keep performing at concerts on occasion and will be involved with his podcast “The Deep End” that includes interviews with people like Pastor Francis Chan and ex-Only Fans star Nala Ray

The cofounder of Reach Records, which boasts artists such as WHATUPRG, Jackie Hill Perry and Alexxander under its label, plans to devote more time on the company.

“When you help establish a company that’s a legacy for people, you want to continue to be a part of that,” Lecrae explained.

Along with wearing hats of rapper/singer, producer and executive, he has recently released “Set Me Free,” a new book of poems and essays that he calls “vulnerable” and “personal.”

“I spent a lot of years trapped trying to prove my worth — to the world, the church, even to myself,” the author wrote. “But freedom isn’t something you earn. It’s already been given.”

“‘Set Me Free’ is my story told in poems and essays — of how grace found me when I was still fighting for approval.”

He is also up for two Grammys this year for “Reconstruction” (Best Contemporary Christian Music Album) and his song “Headphones” (feat. Killer Mike & T.I.) for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

“Grammy nominated. Honored to be recognized alongside my brothers @tip and @killermike. Thank you @recordingacademy!” Lecrae posted in Instagram.

Lecrae shows no sign of slowing down indeed. As he said, “I’m not going anywhere as far as music is concerned.”
