Looking to alleviate eye strain brought on by computer vision syndrome? Here are some helpful tips.
“Computer Vision Syndrome is the name given to eye problems caused by prolonged computer use,” Penn Medicine’s website explains, adding that symptoms include “eye irritation, blurred vision, headaches, [and] muscle fatigue.”

The Huffington Post shared a list of activities to implement in your daily life, including a daily walk, taking regular breaks from looking at your screen and picking up a hobby that doesn’t involve a screen.
Halie Bowser, an executive recruiter, said that she sees a major “significance of embracing a hobby that takes you away from the digital realm, allowing for creativity and physical movement.”
“Whether it’s picking up a paintbrush or immersing oneself in assembling intricate Lego sets like my spouse, the key lies in giving your eyes a rest and engaging in activities that nourish both body and mind,” she said.

For those looking for ways to reduce CVS while still using their computers, Healthline provided a few useful tips, including adjusting your computer screen “20 to 28 inches from your eyes,” as sitting too close to a screen can increase your risk of eye strain.
Another way to ward off CVS? Blinking.
“Looking at a computer or digital screen may cause you to blink less often than you should,” Healthline wrote. “In fact, according to the University of Iowa, you blink 66 percent less while on a computer.”
Our computers aren’t going anywhere any time soon, but taking regular breaks and dedicating a chunk of your day to doing something without screens involved can help you battle any symptoms of computer vision syndrome.
