Forrest Frank mourned the loss of his grandfather Neil Frank, and celebrated the 94-year-old meteorologist’s life and legacy.
“Today, my grandad went to be with Jesus,” he wrote in a late December Instagram video that showed Neil watching a video of himself giving a sermon in 1985.

Frank explained, “I used it as the intro for my album and tour…I loved walking onstage after this because of what it meant: I am the product of prayers, promises and blessings.”
“We named our new son after you, Grandad,” he continued. “One day, I will get to see you again. Until then, I will spend my time doing what you did best — spreading the name of Jesus.”
Frank and wife Grace recently celebrated the birth of their second son, writing in an Instagram post, “Welcome to the world Sonny Neil Frank. We love you more than you’ll ever know.”
The couple also share son Bodie, who was born in 2023.
Frank had previously shared the impact his grandfather’s influence has had on him. While speaking at Liberty University in 2024, the singer said, “My granddad is my role model. He just loves Jesus. He’s the kind of guy that you can’t get away from a conversation with him without him laying hands on you and praying for you. It’s almost as if the conversation itself is just leading towards a prayer.”
The artist also used clips from a conversation he had with Neil as the opener for his May album Child Of God II.
“Well, I’m so delighted, I can’t express,” Neil says in the clip. “God has given you a special job and we’re just delighted, we’re more so delighted that God has selected you to reach out to this younger generation.”
He continued with a prayer: “Father, I’ve been praying that Forrest would experience the Book of Acts and that there will be just unbelievable movement of your Spirit upon these people. First of all, to bring them to an encounter of Jesus, to be saved. Father, we would not object if you do some amazing [healing work] and all kinds of interesting things that are described in the Book of Acts. So we just pray your anointing, double anointing on Forrest.”
Frank is mourning the loss of his beloved grandfather but is surely taking comfort in the legacy of faith Neil left behind.
