Mariah Carey Tops Charts for 93 Total Weeks Throughout Career

Mariah Carey’s iconic Christmas song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” helped set a new record for the singer this holiday season.
While Carey already scored the most weeks sitting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list, she now has had a chart-topping song for 93 total weeks throughout her career.
This year’s Christmas season earned her more weeks on top because of “All I Want for Christmas is You,” which sat right above Brenda Lee’s “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.”
Variety reported, “Of Carey’s 93 weeks on top, 14 of those have been with her Christmas tune, counting this latest addition. The current Hot 100 includes data for the chart week that ended Dec. 21 — meaning Carey has a strong shot at being on top again on the next chart, too, given that it will include results for four more days leading up to and including Christmas.”
Carey celebrated the achievement on Instagram.
“Wow!! Woke up this morning to the incredible news of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” breaking the Spotify record and being #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 & the Global 200 charts,” she wrote. “And to top it all off – it’s snowy outside!!! I can’t thank you enough for making this Christmas (and honestly, this entire season!) so celebratory for me.”
Other classic Christmas songs made the top 10.
“Beyond Carey and Lee in the top two spots, other holiday holdovers included Bobby Helms’ ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ at No. 3, followed by Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ at No. 4, Burl Ives’ ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’ at No. 5, Andy Williams’ ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ at No. 7, Dean Martin’s ‘Let It Snow’ (x3) at No. 8, José Feliciano’s ‘Feliz Navidad’ at No. 9 and the Ronettes’ ‘Sleigh Ride’ at No. 10,” Variety noted.
“All I Want for Christmas is You” also landed Carey at the top of TikTok’s Billboard Top 50 chart, the first Christmas song to do so.
“The TikTok Billboard Top 50 is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on TikTok in the United States based on creations, video views and user engagement,” Billboard reported. “The latest chart reflects activity Dec. 18-24. Activity on TikTok is not included in Billboard charts except for the TikTok Billboard Top 50.”
Billboard added that “Usages of the songs ranged from holiday-specific comedy sketches to dances and soundtracking general Christmas content.”
