By Movieguide® Staff
Netflix announced the acquisition of the upcoming movie BLUE MIRACLE, formerly known as ON THE LINE, starring Dennis Quaid.
BLUE MIRACLE is based on the true story of a Mexican orphanage called Casa Hogar after it was hit by Hurricane Odile in 2014.
“The incredible true story of Casa Hogar, the Mexican boys home that entered the world’s biggest fishing tournament to save their orphanage,” the synopsis reads.
Cast alongside Quaid are Raymond Cruz, Anthony Gonzalez, Jimmy Gonzales, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Fernanda Urrejola, and Bruce McGill.
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date.
Julio Quintana will direct the movie alongside writer Chris Dowling. Dowling is known for his work on the uplifting story of faith in RUN THE RACE.
Movieguide®’s review reads:
RUN THE RACE is the producing debut of Christian football phenom Tim Tebow and his brother Robby. They have chosen well for their first production. RACE is extremely well-made. The performances are outstanding across the board, as is the movie’s impressive sense of grit and authenticity. It manages to bring Christ front and center in a dramatically suitable way rather than seeming forced or over-the-top. RUN THE RACE is a terrific tale of family, forgiveness, reconciliation, and redemption.
BLUE MIRACLE is one of many upcoming movies for Quaid, who is known for his roles in SOUL SURFER, THE RIGHT STUFF, and I CAN ONLY IMAGINE.
Quaid was nominated at the 2012 Movieguide® Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry for the Grace Award for Most Inspiring Performance of 2011 for SOUL SURFER.
Quaid is set to portray former President Ronald Reagan in an upcoming biopic, REAGAN, and will star in Erwin Brother’s movie AMERICAN UNDERDOG: THE KURT WARNER STORY.
