Netflix just announced it will reboot another classic show. This time, it’s LAND OF THE LOST.
“Netflix is looking to remake another classic TV series. The streamer has closed a deal with Legendary Television for LAND OF THE LOST, a reboot of Sid and Marty Krofft’s 1974 sci-fi adventure show,” Deadline reported on X. “Sid and Marty Krofft as well as Marty’s daughter Deanna Krofft Pope, who is VP Development and Production at their company, will produce the project, which is in very early stages, sources said.”
The series, which ran from 1974-1976, followed the Marshall family — a dad named Rick and his son Will and daughter Holly — “who become trapped in a mysterious realm filled with dinosaurs, primitive humans, and strange lizard-like creatures called Sleestaks.”
LAND OF THE LOST, a children’s series, initially aired on NBC for its three seasons in the ’70s. CBS reran it during the summers in 1985 and 1987.
Spencer Milligan played Rick, Wesley Eure starred as Will and Kathy Coleman took on Holly.
In addition to LAND OF THE LOST, Netflix is also working on LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE reboot based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved Little House books that describe her life growing up in the American West in the 1800s, per a press release from Netflix.

Rebecca Sonnenshine will serve as the series showrunner and executive producer.
“I am absolutely thrilled with the brilliant cast we have assembled,” she said in the press release. “Each one of them brings something special to the LITTLE HOUSE universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation.”
Currently, it stars Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Warren Christie as John Edwards, Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, Alyssa Wapanatâhk as White Sun, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle and Xander Cole as Little Puma.
It is officially in production.
Jinny Howe, vice president, Drama Series, Netflix, spoke about the series, saying, “LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story. Rebecca’s vision threads the needle with an emotional depth that will delight both new and existing fans of this beloved classic.”
LAND OF THE LOST will mark Netflix’s latest foray into reboots. Not much information has been released as far showrunner, cast, producers or release date, but fans of the original show certainly can’t wait to see it return.
