Packers Backup QB Credits Jesus for Three Wins This Season

Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis led his team to three wins this season, and it’s all thanks to God.
He opened up about his faith during a press conference last month when asked, “What do you think of what you’ve done for this team? This is three games now where you had to play and three games that you’ve won.”
“It doesn’t have nothing to do with me,” the quarterback responded. “I’m just grateful for the opportunity given to me by God. Hey, Jesus did way more than I do, you know, so, I just lean on that thought, and this is a game at the end of the day. I just lean on that fact, and it helps me to get through and not really stress over it. I mean, it’s definitely important. It’s a high-stress job, but at the same time, the Lord blessed me with this ability. I just gotta utilize it and have fun with it.”

Willis attended Liberty University, and through that experience, he really learned to lean on Christ.
“As long as I work hard and lean on my faith in God, everything else will fall into place as it should,” he wrote. “It took me a long time to bring myself to that sort of mindset. But without those struggles, I would have never had a chance to earn this new opportunity.”
That new opportunity was playing for the Flames.
“Transferring really opened my eyes to everything I was doing wrong,” he explained. “It brought me back to ground zero and forced me to return to the same mentality I had before college. I had to go back to the basics and reinvent myself as a student-athlete.”

Now he uses his position as an NFL star to make a difference.
Willis and the Packers’ starting quarterback Jordan Love partnered with Betters Days Mentoring LLC to “distribute 1,100 coats to adults and children,” the Green Bay Press Gazette reported.
“Better Days Mentoring is a private entity that works intensively with clients and their families to gain control over emotional, behavioral and environmental issues,” the outlet continued. “It works with clients who present behavior issues and come from a variety of backgrounds and situations. The ability to relate and establish connections with young individuals allows Better Days to meet them where they are and head off problem behaviors before they arise.”
“I think it’s very cool, it’s very powerful to be able to help people out,” Love said. “I think giving back is very important. It’s the way I was raised. My parents were very giving people.”
