Reba McEntire Talks New Show, HAPPY’S PLACE: ‘I Hope They Love It’

Country star Reba McEntire is revving up for her new sitcom, HAPPY’S PLACE.
“NBC has handed a series order to HAPPY’S PLACE, a multi-camera comedy starring McEntire and her former REBA co-star Melissa Peterman. It will air during the 2024-2025 TV season,” TV Insider reported.
“The comedy centers around Bobbie, played by McEntire, who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to find she has a half-sister she never knew she had, who also becomes her business partner. The new series was created by Reba executive producer Kevin Abbott,” TV Insider said.
McEntire previously rooted for a reboot of her show, REBA. While HAPPY’S PLACE isn’t a REBA restart, McEntire looks forward to performing in the new show with her old co-star.
Movieguide® reported last year:
The Grammy Award-winning singer said that she and her co-star Melissa Peterman recently talked about rebooting the series after working together on the Lifetime movie, THE HAMMER.
“We talked about that a lot,” McEntire told E! News in a recent interview. “I don’t think that’s ever going to come to fruition, but maybe one of these days.”
Peterman and McEntire also co-host a podcast, “Living & Learning With Reba McEntire,” and McEntire serves as a judge on THE VOICE.
“We have been working on trying to get another show since we were canceled on the REBA show,” McEntire recently told ET. “We got to do MALIBU COUNTRY for one season. We’ve got the same producers, same showrunner, same writers, and now we’re back with Melissa Peterman and Rex Linn, my boyfriend, and a wonderful, wonderful cast and crew.”
She told PEOPLE that she will sing the theme song for the new show.
“We’ve started working on it, and we’ll have it soon finished,” McEntire said. “If they say it’s a go, I’ll finish it up and have it ready for when we go to series.”
The 69-year-old added that the show has “a great script.”
“My [character Bobbie’s] dad was Happy, that was his name, and we owned a tavern called Happy’s Place,” she told PEOPLE about the plot. “Well, Happy passed, and so he’s passed the tavern onto me, but there’s a little hiccup involved, so that’s the mystery right there. Everybody has to tune in and watch it, and I hope they love it.”
This week, she posted a photo of herself with a proud smile on her face as she held the script for the show. She said, “#ICant think of a better way to end the day…a new single and now a new sitcom. We’ll see you at #HappysPlace on @nbc soon!”
