Sanctus Real Singer Describes Worship in One Word
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sanctus Real lead singer Dustin Lolli is sharing one word that describes worship.
“I think honor,” he told Worship Leader. “You know, worship is a very interesting thing because we’ve created this culture where worship is just music, and that’s what we call it. We’ve started to almost worship the music over really defining what it is. And I think mostly what worship is, is when we follow the way of Jesus. The greatest worship I think we can do is resemble Him the best that we can to this world.”
“So we’re bringing the kingdom of heaven, and there is no greater worship to me than bringing the kingdom of heaven to an environment where we’re actually in the kingdom of earth,” he continued. “And so worship is anytime you can bring the nature of God to somebody else, and I think that’s honoring to the Creator who we choose to believe in.”
In April, Sanctus Real released a new 11-track album called All Along.
The album is “a compelling journey through faith, resilience, and hope. With a track listing that spans moments of chaos, reflection, and triumph, the album encapsulates the band’s evolution and unwavering commitment to their message,” CCM Magazine wrote.
“I look at this track listing and I realize how long this record has been in the making — four years,” Sanctus Real told CCM. “Some of these songs were written the month before the covid lockdowns in 2020. Looking at those songs now I realize how perfect of a setup they were for moving us into the next few years.
“Songs like ‘Won’t Let Me Go’ and ‘My God Is Still The Same’ really spoke to those following years’ sense of chaos,” the band continued. “Moving past the crazy we got into songs about Hope like the new song ‘Victory‘ (probably my new favorite) and Dare to Hope. We even got back to some of our indie rock roots with the song ‘When The Good Times End’ – for any fans that go back all the way with us to our Fight the Tide album you’ll probably appreciate the tongue in cheek lyrics and edgy guitar vibe, but also the direct to the heart calling out of who we need to be when things don’t go our way.”
Recently, their 2018 song “Confidence” hit 100 million streams on Spotify.
“You guys, this is truly a miracle story. We are so incredibly blessed to make this music – thanks for ALL the support these last few years,” the band posted on Instagram.
Movieguide® previously reported on Sanctus Real’s founder Matt Hammitt:
Christian singer-songwriter Matt Hammitt recently talked about his new documentary, BOWEN’S HEART, about the journey of trial and faith for his son, Bowen, and their family.
The former Sanctus Real singer said that he hopes the movie will provide hope to others who are facing similar circumstances.
“Ever since 2010, when Bo was first born, we’ve had other families calling us who’ve heard the story and [some of] the big questions that we’ve gotten over the years [are], ‘What do we expect in the hospital? How is this going to affect our marriage? How’s this going to affect other kids?’” he told CBN. “And so we got a lot of those practical life questions.”
“Our motivation for making the film was, ‘Hey, we’ve been telling people what it’s like as much as we can. Why don’t we take them with us and show them and … be honest about these struggles in hopes that people would feel that they’re not alone and then that they would see a picture of hope,’” Hammitt added.
