Tim Tebow doesn’t take hard-learned lessons for granted.

“Instead of asking, ‘Why is this happening to me?’ what if you asked, ‘God what do you want me to learn through this?’” Tebow posted on X this week.

“I’ve had seasons that felt like dead ends. Some humbled me,” the former NFL player said. “Some hurt.”

But when he reflects on them, he sees how God helped develop him.

“I see God shaping me through every twist,” he said. “How about you? Where has life shifted in ways you didn’t expect, and what is He teaching you through it?”

When Tebow went on Christian Huff’s “4:8 Men” Podcast, he explained the importance of spiritual training.

“I think of striving to be your best for God and for what you’re calling and for what people have for you,” Tebow said when asked what he thinks of spiritual training. “…Why we train is important…You train in sports because you have a goal, you have a dream, you have a vision and you want to get from where you are to where you’re trying to be.”

“You want to get from where you are in that moment to maybe being the starting quarterback or maybe being able to win a championship or maybe be able to get a scholarship,” he continued. “…You train so that you can one day get to a place. So, you can improve so that you might have the chance of being your best, right?”

And it’s the same for spiritual growth. He believes you should discipline yourself to achieve your best.

He encourages others to train themselves spiritually in his devotional and Bible study, Mission Possible: Go Create a Life That Counts.

Part of the book’s description reads, “Far more dangerous than resistance or roadblocks is living with a mission impossible mindset. Statistically speaking, those with a stronger sense of mission and purpose live longer, richer, happier lives—regardless of their particular circumstances… Wherever you are, whatever your work, you can not only find God’s purpose for your life, but accomplish a mission that you have already been called to and equipped for.”

Tebow’s latest book is If the Tree Could Speak. He wrote it after he reflected on Luke 19:40: “the rocks cry out…”

Tebow asked himself “If inanimate creation could testify to Christ, what would the wooden cross, the object that bore His crucifixion, say?”

“That just started this train of thought,” he told The Christian Post. “If creation is so ready to praise Him, how much more so would the tree that Jesus hung on Calvary’s cross, because it was the closest thing to Jesus on that day?”

Through Tebow’s thoughtful introspection, he’s learned that endurance pays off. There’s purpose in every trial.
