New York Knicks guard Josh Hart couldn’t help but praise God as he won his first-ever NBA title.
“First and foremost, glory to God. He’s why we are here. He’s why we play,” Hart said on Saturday after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90, according to One Way Global TV on Instagram.
This is the first NBA title the Knicks have won since 1973, a feat that has been “forged in fire,” Hart described.
Hart played at Villanova University alongside his Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges. The trio secured an NCAA National Championship together and now an NBA title.
When speaking with TODAY, Brunson revealed that Hart sent an emotional text to his teammates about the tight bond they all share.

“And not to continue to get on him, but he had a great text yesterday,” Brunson told Jenna Bush Hager of TODAY. “He said, ‘I don’t know if I can say this in person because I may be emotional, but I really love you guys, and it really means the most to me to know you guys are here doing this with me.’ We have a special bond.”
“When we were younger, we all had a goal of obviously trying to make the NBA,” the athlete added. “In that long-term goal, we were able to achieve something great in college. Obviously, me and Mikal achieved something great twice, more than Josh. It’s awesome knowing that no matter what’s the situation going on, we all have each other’s back. We all have love for each other.”
Aside from basketball. Hart is a family man. He loved celebrating the championship with his wife, Shannon, and his twin sons – Hendrix and Haze.
“Memories I’ll have for a lifetime,” he wrote in a post on Instagram that included a series of family photos from the celebrations.
Throughout this NBA playoff run, Hart has let his faith shine with boldness.
In May, he posted a photo of himself at Madison Square Garden, his head bowed and his hands open.
“For me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” he wrote in the caption as he referenced Joshua 24:15.
Hart’s historic championship victory stands as a testament not just to his basketball talent but to the deep bonds of brotherhood, family and the unwavering faith that defines his life both on and off the court.
