THE CHOSEN Drops Sneak Peek at Season 5 Set. Check it Out

By Movieguide® Contributor

Filming for THE CHOSEN Season 5 has moved back to Texas after spending the first few months of production in Utah, and they just dropped a peek at their new sets.

The “brand new sets in our not one but two incredible sound stages” are the perfect home for the cast and crew as they wrap filming for the next season.

“It’s just surreal seeing how far we’ve come from Season 1 to now,” Jordan Walker Ross (Little James) said of the new sets. “There’s always something new that we can look forward to every every time we come back.”

THE CHOSEN’s social media personalities described how the set changed since the last time filming occurred in Texas.

The place where Eden stomped grapes became a store to sell wine, horse stables transformed into a store for oils and the entrance to Capernaum was changed to look more authentic.

Will Nicholson, the visual effects supervisor, said, “This building is part of a larger group of buildings. We’ve built and entire section of Jerusalem all in CG, and it’s a modular piece so we can mix and match buildings as needed. Texas, as it turns out, is very lush and beautiful…Jerusalem is not, so we will get rid of the trees, we’ll add in some buildings and hopefully make it look a little bit more like Jerusalem.”

“I didn’t dream any of this,” director Dallas Jenkins added. “I’ve been shooting on a farm in Illinois when I first started this thing. I didn’t think we would have palaces and Jerusalem and all that fun stuff.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Season 5 filming:

“Cameras will begin rolling on THE CHOSEN Season 5 in Utah starting April 11; the series will shoot there for six weeks before shifting to the show’s home base in Texas for the remainder of the production,” Variety reported.

The show’s creator, Dallas Jenkins, told Variety, “The response to Season 4 has been overwhelming so far, which provides a nice lift for us as we head into filming. Of course, we’re about to try to portray the most famous week in the history of humans, so the euphoria from the previous season never lasts long. The entire Season 6 will cover one day, so covering one week in Season 5 feels luxurious.”

Season 5 will follow Holy Week, picking up right where Season 4 left off.

“This is when the plot thickens, and Lazarus will be hiding at this point because of what’s happened in Season 4,” Jenkins explained. “We are covering in Season 5 the most important week in history. Season 6 is the most important day in history.”

“Season 6 ain’t gonna end well,” he added in a live stream video. “It’s the saddest moment in the history of the human race.”

While no official release date for Season 5 has been announced, filming is expected to wrap sometime this month, so fans could see new episodes as early as January 2025.
