THE CHOSEN’s Teddy Bear Award® winner Jonathan Roumie recently shared a prayer for how he hopes his role will impact those who watch the show.

“The anticipation builds! 🤩😍” Roumie wrote, referring to THE CHOSEN Season 6, which comes out on Nov. 15. “Grateful to the Lord for all the blessings that have come from this mission.”

He added a prayer: “Guide me Lord, as I continue to show people your face and not mine…to hear your voice, and not mine, so that they may come to fully experience your Mercy, your Love and your Holy Spirit, through the presentation of these gifts I lay at your altar of sacrifice. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. 🙏🏽♥️🙌🏽”

He recently reflected on how far the show has taken him.

“Eight years ago today, God changed the course of my life. The road ahead seemed impassible and impossible but He had other plans. And I couldn’t be more grateful…🥹” Roumie wrote in another social media post alongside an eight-year-old clip of himself finding out that he got the role in the biblical series.

He calls playing Jesus the greatest honor of his life and the most difficult task.

In another post, he shared, “Words will never adequately describe the incredible honor it has been to portray our Lord in the @thechosentvseries, not only in those first four episodes – specifically because of what they meant to me at that moment in my life personally- but for all the subsequent moments, encounters, stories and spiritual lessons He would allow me to participate in and learn from all these years later.”

Just before Roumie got his role on THE CHOSEN, he was struggling to make ends meet and was in debt.

“I was out of food. I was out of even government assistance for food. And the only thing I hadn’t done at that point was the [only] thing left to do,” he said.

“[I had to] get on my knees and surrender my entire life and my career and everything that I had up to that point over to God,” said Roumie. “Because there wasn’t anything, I realized, I could do on my own.”

Later that very day, Roumie received a large financial blessing. Then three months later, he got the role as Jesus.

“Every day, I realize how far I have to go to be more like Him,” said the actor, “to let him know how grateful I am.”

On May 17, Roumie participated in Rededicate 250, a major prayer event backed by the Trump administration. The event took place at The National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Roumie is currently working on Season 7 of THE CHOSEN, which will be the last in the series. Production is expected to wrap up in September.
