Tim Allen to Reprise SANTA CLAUSE Role With LAST MAN STANDING Creator

By Movieguide® Contributor

Well, if the suit fits …

Tim Allen will be reprising his SANTA CLAUSE role in a new limited series for Disney+ with LAST MAN STANDING Creator Jack Burditt.

In addition to returning as Scott Calvin, his role from the previous movies, Allen will also be executive producing the project.

“Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever,” according to a release. “He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole.  With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

Allen’s performance in the first movie earned him a People’s Choice Award, and spawned two sequels, all of which were lauded by Movieguide® for their family-oriented message, production value, and great comedy.

In a review for the first installment in the series, Movieguide® says:

THE SANTA CLAUSE is a delightful adventure fantasy. While admittedly feel-good, light-weight fare, the movie is definitely an uplifting experience even for adults. Children squealed with delight at the sight of Santa Claus, as well as during scenes of the North Pole complete with elves played by children and toys galore. Underneath, this movie is about a little boy who loves his dad and believes in him when no one else does. If you explain to your children the difference between fantasy and the Truth, then they can enjoy this fun fantasy without conforming to the myths of our fallen age.

LAST MAN STANDING’s Burditt will join Allen as an EP and showrunner.

Several LAST MAN STANDING episodes were nominated for Movieguide® Awards for their strong faith content.
