Tim Tebow Bases New Year’s Resolutions on ‘Convictions,’ Not ‘Emotions’

Tim Tebow is sharing how to stay committed to New Year’s resolutions.
“Researchers suggest that only 9% of Americans that make resolutions complete them. In fact, research goes on to show that 23% of people quit their resolution by the end of the first week, and 43% quit by the end of January,” the Heisman trophy winner wrote on Instagram.
“The failure rate for New Year’s resolutions is said to be an estimated 80% with most people losing their resolve and motivation just weeks later in mid-February, according to U.S News and World Report,” Tebow continued.
The former two-sport professional athlete says if our resolutions weren’t based so much on emotion but rather on conviction, we would be better able to follow through with them.
In a video, Tebow gave a few examples of why people quit their New Year’s resolutions: “Man, that diet I wanted to start, oh, week two, I don’t really like it. I was gonna read a book every week. I don’t really feel like doing that anymore. I was gonna work out five days a week. I don’t really feel like doing that anymore.”
“It’s a big part of our society,” he continued. “We’re emotional. That’s okay. But you can’t build a culture on emotions. But I do think you can build a culture on convictions. What’s that mean? A deeply held set of beliefs. So even when I don’t feel like it maybe I’ll still choose it. When I don’t feel like it. maybe I’ll still do it. When i don’t feel like it, maybe I’ll still be willing to live it out. And I feel like a great culture or a championship culture always starts with the right mindset.”
In another post, Tebow shared the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people.
“Choose to surround yourself with people who believe in you, fire you up, teach you something new, or challenge you instead of telling you what you want to hear. Be wise about your top-five list,” he wrote.
Having people who can keep you accountable and believe in you will contribute to achieving goals and desires, such as New Year’s resolutions.
He also encouraged his followers to challenge themselves this year.
“I believe you are here for a reason; you have a purpose. Make 2024 count!” the athlete posted. “Are we going to wake up and say with this day, with this moment, with this year, with my life, with this chance, it means that we care so much about something, we are willing to suffer for it?”

In a recent interview, football star Tim Tebow is reflecting on the importance of staying humble.
“Understanding the Gospel, I think, really does humble us because we didn’t do anything to earn it,” Tebow explained. “We don’t deserve it. I don’t deserve it. For by Grace, we have been saved through faith. It is not of our works so that we can’t boast.”
He went on to say that it’s not about “how good we are,” but rather “how perfect Jesus is.”
“I think when you understand the gravity and the severity of the Gospel, there’s nothing that we get to brag about,” Tebow said.
