NFL star Tim Tebow reminds you not to settle for anything less than God’s calling for your life.
“Rejection hurts — but it might be how God saves you from settling for less than your calling,” he posted on Instagram, adding, “Don’t settle for what’s comfortable when He’s calling you to something greater.”
Fans agreed with him, with one commenting, “I always tell my kids…Rejection is God’s protection.”
“Looking back at the time it always hurt so much but those unanswered prayers have always worked out for the best! Trust in Him,” another person wrote.
Tebow recently shared a moment that he viewed as a setback at the time but now sees was part of God’s plan all along.
“I had the opportunity to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and I was so excited to get the chance to go play for my college coach, and [I] just thought, ‘Hey, this is going to work out really well.’ It didn’t work out that way,” he said in an Instagram video.
Instead, Tebow was cut after the first pre-season game. While he was disappointed, a trip to Afghanistan soon put things into perspective.

“We finished serving at this evacuee refugee camp, and we get on a plane, we fly to another location in the Middle East, and it was on that flight that was really the first time since I had gotten cut that I actually could say, ‘God, thank you for letting me get cut. If I wouldn’t have gotten cut, I wouldn’t have had the freedom to have been over there, to serve in those locations, to do what I believe is my biggest calling in life, to serve the most vulnerable,’” Tebow shared.
He continued, “But you see, what was a setback to me — a setback to my pride, a setback to my goals — wasn’t actually a setback; it was actually a setup for what I was really supposed to be doing. You have to build a mindset that is willing to look through the setbacks because maybe that setback is actually the greatest setup of your life.”
Today, Tebow is celebrating a major milestone: the birth of his and wife Demi-Leigh Tebow’s first child!
“Our daughter is here! We couldn’t be more grateful for the blessing and gift of this new little life,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post. “Thank you to everyone who’s been praying with us over her arrival. We are so incredibly thankful for all of the love and support we’ve felt.”
In a later post, they shared her name, Daphne Reign, calling her “our answered prayer.”
Tebow’s recent comments, as well as his own recent good news, are reminders to trust in God’s plan, even when you’re struggling with setbacks.
