PGA Tour pro Webb Simpson understands what it feels like to win and lose, but because of his faith in the Lord, he can take on either with grace.

“I think Christians should be able to handle success better than a non-Christian, in that you don’t have to have it, and you treat it as a gift, and you’re thankful, and you know that it’s fleeting,” Simpson said on an episode of the “Sports Spectrum” podcast.

On the other hand, Christians can manage losses more easily because of the hope that we have in Jesus.

“But also, Christians should be able to handle defeat better than a non-Christian, knowing there’s a purpose in it. There’s purpose in everything we do. Romans 8:28-29 that God’s got a plan. He’s got a purpose in all that happens, whether victory or defeat, and that we actually have an opportunity in defeat to show that football is not ultimate, that golf is not ultimate, and that we can still be gracious losers and not show our attitudes and stuff on the field or on the golf course,” he said.

“So it’s really fun for me to think through, how does my faith affect, you know, the good days and the bad days? And it has a huge effect,” Webb emphasized.

Simpson hosts the “Bible Caddie Podcast” with his friend and fellow PGA tour competitor Ben Crane, where they’re all about “golf, Jesus, and helping people grow in their faith!”

While the podcast “contains plenty of golf banter and humor, the primary focus of each episode is an interactive Bible Study that is both accessible and relatable. About once a month, we interview a special guest typically around the topics of golf and faith. Our hope is to introduce many in the golf world to Jesus, and to provide resources for those who already know Him to join us on the same mission. Episodes are released every Friday morning,” the website reads.

What once started as a small Bible study at Brentwood Country Club, Bible Caddie soon became something consisting of “real friendships, honest conversations, and a lot of fun!”

“Our heart is for the guy who doesn’t really know where he stands with Jesus to hear the gospel clearly. And at the same time, to help golfers feel confident sharing their faith with buddies,” the Bible Caddie wrote in a post on social media. “Our hope is that when you listen, it doesn’t feel like something reserved for Sunday mornings. Just real conversations about following Jesus in the middle of normal life.”

Through Simpson’s faith in Christ, he can win or lose with grace. What a powerful attitude to take into all areas of our lives.
