‘Welcome To The Joy’: Bruce Willis’ Daughter Shares Sweet Photo With Dad
By Movieguide® Contributor
Bruce Willis’ family are continuing to find joy as they navigate his battle with dementia.
“Big year for Scouter,” his daughter Scout posted under a series of pictures from the past year. “Welcome to the Joy.”
One of the photos features Scout and Willis embracing, both smiling.
Scout often posts pictures, videos and messages about Willis’ frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
“Sending the blessing of this love out to everyone today,” she captioned a recent photo of her father kissing her forehead. “I feel so lucky to know the kind of tenderness that this man shares, the deep admiration, respect and reverence he has for his family.”
Scout continued, “I feel so lucky that this incredible, vibrant, man is my father. Thinking of everyone for whom today has been challenging and I am loving you with the deepest depths of my heart! What patience, compassion and presence we learn through the greatest challenges in our lives.”
Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, has also shared details about what life is like for the family now, hoping to raise awareness and support for other caregivers.
“You know, holidays are hard, anniversaries are hard,” she said in a recent Instagram video, referring to the holiday season and the couple’s recent sixteenth wedding anniversary. “But for me, this year, it has really been about community, building a community and connection. And I just want to say that has been my lifeline, and I just want to thank you for that.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Willis’ diagnosis:
Bruce Willis’ family updated his fans on his health, sharing that his condition “has progressed” from aphasia, and the actor has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
“Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis,” Willis’ ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, wrote on Instagram. “In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing.”
She continued, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
