The NCIS: ORIGINS Season 2 finale promises to deliver an episode full of drama as the characters grapple with the possibility of Camp Pendleton being shut down.

“It’s my worst nightmare. I feel like I finally found a home after having my whole world get tossed upside down a year ago, and I finally settled into this place enough to where I feel comfortable. For it to go away would be a disaster,” Austin Stowell told TV Insider explaining how his character, Gibbs, feels about the team’s possible shutdown. “So I look to Franks, the guy that saved my life to try and save it again and don’t exactly get the answers that I need. So in a very Gibbsian way, he goes off and does his own thing, which, as we know, gets him in trouble every now and again.”

The second season of the show has already given fans a lot to chew on, starting with the first episode, which revealed that Lala Dominguez survived the car crash that the first season ended upon. Many fans believed she had died, given her and Gibbs’ romantic feelings, which are never discussed in the flagship show.

“We always knew that we were bringing Mariel [Molino who plays Lala] back. We love her, the team and the season wouldn’t be complete without her,” showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal told The Wrap. “We always knew she was coming back, but it was a bit of a puzzle trying to put that opening together and place everybody, to remind people where we left them and where they are now. That particular opening took a bit of brain power to put together, but we’re really proud of how it turned out, and Niels Arden Oplev just knocked it out of the park with his direction.

The second season also introduced Special Agent Dwyane Pride, a character who is good friends with Gibbs on NCIS.

“We wanted to stick to canon, and we’re really excited about that episode and that character,” showrunner David J. North told TV Insider of Pride’s introduction, teasing that viewers will see “the beginnings of that relationship, for sure. And let’s just say that their original introduction is not going to be at all what anyone expects.”

“We go through quite a bit,” added Stowell. “By the end of that episode, we are seeing the notes of what we know becomes a very powerful friendship and working relationship that they go through a lot together and taking down huge global crime syndicates. So to get from there, we can’t make it easy. We don’t do easy on this show, that’s for sure.”

While fans will have to wait until May 5 to find out Camp Pendleton’s fate, the story will continue as ORIGINS has already been renewed for a third season.
