Why This Actress Will Obey God No Matter What
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actress, author and ministry leader Priscilla Shirer will obey God no matter what He asks her to do. She explained why on TBN.
“At 42 years old, there are very few things that the Lord could ask me to do that I would not quickly and immediately step out to do them because I have such a track record with God now,” Shirer began. “Even with my mistakes. But I have such a track record with God now, and I think my husband can attest to this. But I’m one of those people that if I sense the Holy Spirit is calling me to do something because of the track record of seeing His faithfulness time and time again step in for me when I stepped off what I thought was a ledge and it didn’t look like it was goodbye.”
“Or I had a word from the Lord, and it was confirmed in His word, and by the leadership in my life, so I just went ahead and did it anyway,” she added. “I watched Him catch me, and I watched Him take me to a place I never could have gotten with my own giftings or my own talent or my own skill. You watch Him do that enough times, you get to the place that when God asks you to do it again, you can’t wait to step off the ledge.”

God’s faithfulness and her willingness to obey Him make Shirer “so excited to see what’s next in the journey.” If she feels like He’s silent, she assumes that means God wants her to “stay right there. Keep being obedient to the assignment.”
Her book, I Surrender All, dives into a similar concept — obeying and surrendering to God with your life, no matter the cost.
“Salvation is a gift of God. It’s free. It’s grace. It’s the cross. Discipleship comes at a high cost. It’s surrender. It’s effort. It’s a daily choice to lay down your life and follow His. Few believers choose this route, but the ones who do will experience the abundance that only the surrendered life can offer. It’s the one choice standing between you and the life of freedom and fulfillment, of peace and purpose you’ve always wanted. I Surrender All is all about making that choice,” a synopsis of the book reads.
The OVERCOMER star recently appeared in the Kendrick brothers’ latest movie, The Forge, which also focuses on the theme of discipleship.
“The film is about a young man who is trying to come into manhood, but as a single mom, and you can do it successfully, but there are going to be little gaps in handing a boy his man card,” Shirer said of the movie. “Another man has to fill in some of those spaces and just exemplifying for him what it looks like to be a man who is responsible, has character and integrity. And is loving towards his family and is responsible towards his work and work ethic.
