Why Jennifer Lopez’s Daughter, Emme, Prays for Her Mom Every Day
By Allyson Vannatta, Senior Writer
During an interview about her new children’s book, Lord Help Me, actress and singer Jennifer Lopez’s daughter, Emme, shared why she prays for her mother every day.
“I do pray for my mother,” Emme told Hoda Kotb on TODAY. “I usually pray before she does her shows and stuff, ’cause she can get hurt in many ways.”
Lord Help Me highlights the different prayers Emme prays each day, and in fact, the entire book focuses on the power of prayer.
In the interview for TODAY, Kotb asked Emme when she started praying.
“My grandma prayed with me every day when I saw her. My mom would do it too: ‘Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep,’ you know, that one. That’s the one I would say every day,” Emme said.
Some pages of the book were seen in the video interview, and one page read, “Lord, help me be more grateful for all the blessings in my life.”
These words were seen with illustrations of Lopez’s fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, and his daughters sitting on a couch with Emme, her twin brother Max, and Lopez.
Movieguide® previously reported “I wrote this book to help raise money to save sloths while also teaching other children how we can pray and ask for help—two things that bring me a lot of comfort.”
“We all have moments every day where we can use a little help. Some are small, like waking up for school or getting along with a sibling. Others are big, like helping to save the planet and all its creatures—especially sloths!” the book’s description on Amazon says. “But asking God for help always brings us the strength to get through anything. Emme Muñiz shares her own daily prayers to offer families a way to embrace the peace and power of everyday faith.”
Lord Help Me is available now.
