More Detail:
THE CHOSEN continues to surprise with its sharp writing and artistic imagination of the Gospel characters and settings. How the creative team has imagined the apostles’ internal lives, especially, is fascinating. One example is the portrayal of Matthew as a slightly odd, very lonely man. The score is subtle and beautiful. Performances continue to be strong. Erick Avari as Nicodemus and Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene lead the group of capable actors. The positive messages continue to be just as strong, with a growing Christian message as Jesus enters the picture. Some violence, alcohol abuse, light sexual humor, and gambling warrant caution for younger children.
