THE JINGLE BELL JUBILEE is a Christmas romance on UPtv about a widower who returns to his hometown in early December to become the city manager and turns to his son’s middle school teacher to help him with the city’s donation drive for needy families, which is part of the town’s annual Christmas festival. THE JINGLE BELL JUBILEE tells a well-rounded and entertaining, though sometimes low-key, story of romance, humor and heartwarming values like gratitude, kindness, compassion for the needy, and making Christmas less materialistic and more meaningful.
Nate has been a widower for three years. He and his young teenage son, Brandon, return to Nate’s hometown of Larchmont Falls so Nate can be the town’s City Manager. Nate’s military family moved during his senior in high school senior, and he’s always longed to return. So, when he saw that the City Manager’s job was open, he jumped at the chance.
However, when he meets the mayor, Nate learns he only has three weeks to plan the city’s Jungle Bell Jubilee, a week-long celebration of Christmas and what it means to the town. Despite all the work, things go pretty smooth for Nate. Except for one thing. The mayor informs Nate that the city is only getting a few donations from the city’s annual charity drive for needy families and their children.
Brandon’s pretty middle school teacher, Hope, who knew Nate in high school before he left, comes to the rescue, however. She has an idea that could help jumpstart the charity drive. Nate loves her idea, but he also will need to realize that the charity drive won’t be successful unless he
can step out of the way and let Hope apply her inborn passion and compassion for helping needy people to instill the drive with the right kind of heart.
There’s another monkey wrench in this story, however. Hope’s friend, Allison, the school’s Vice Principal, informed Hope when they met Nate that she has a little crush on him. Hope tried to set Allison up with Nate, and they started doing things together. However, both Nate and Allison discovered that they don’t really have any sparks between them. The problem is that Nate is taking that as a sign that he’s just not ready to be romantically tied to anyone. This is bad news for Hope, because, as she and Nate have worked together on the charity drive, Hope’s developed serious feelings for Nate.
Can Nate and Hope turn the charity drive around and make it successful? Will Nate
THE JINGLE BELL JUBILEE tells a well-rounded and entertaining story of romance, humor and heartwarming values. However, the execution of the story is a little too low key at times. For example, the jeopardy could use more urgency, such as a specific family, group of families or part of town that’s desperately depending on the charity drive to survive the coming winter. The movie also needs a stronger focus on the reason for the season, the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, who came to die for our sins and give us eternal life. That said, JINGLE BELL JUBILEE is a heartwarming, engaging movie that stresses gratitude, compassion for the needy, making Christmas less materialistic and more meaningful, helping others, and treating people with kindness and concern for their feelings.
