What You Need To Know:
GREEN ROOM is an excruciatingly intense movie with lots of shocking and grotesque violence. The squeamish level of the gore is entirely unnecessary, especially since the movie skillfully builds the tension between the weak band members and the white supremacists. The two band members who survive only do so after embracing a vicious level of violence. The depraved result is reminiscent of LORD OF THE FLIES, where everyone must succumb to savagery to have any hope of living. The abundant foul language and grotesque violence make GREEN ROOM horrendous entertainment.

GREEN ROOM is a very intense, violent horror thriller about a punk rock band caught in the middle of a very deadly situation.
Pat, Tiger, Sam, and Reece are a screamo-punk-rock band on the road in Oregon, looking for any gig they can get. Siphoning gas along the way, the group needs a decent concert real bad. So, one of their contacts sets them up with his cousin, who has a gig at a white supremacist hangout place.
They take the job to open for another band and drive out to the venue in the middle of the woods. The rough crowd of drug addicts and rednecks with swastika tattoos mildly enjoys their performance. As they’re packing up to leave, Pat runs into the green room to grab their phone. He’s shocked to find the headlining band members standing over a dead girl who has a knife stick out of her skull. Horrified, Pat tries to run away, but he and his band members are forced to sit in the green room at gunpoint with the dead body until the venue’s owner can figure out what to do.
The owner, Darcy Banker (Patrick Stewart), is making and trafficking heroin underneath the venue, so he wants to avoid the police at all costs. Since Pat’s band presents a risk to his operation, he brings in his racist friends to kill them. However, Pat and the band take control of the green room and begin planning how they can get out alive. A violent and gruesome mess ensues.
GREEN ROOM is an excruciatingly intense movie with shocking and grotesque violence. The squeamish level of the gore is entirely unnecessary, especially since the movie skillfully builds the tension between the weak band members and the white supremacists. The ensemble works, but it’s not entirely clear who the protagonist is until the movie’s third act. There’s some fantastic cinematography of the beautiful Oregon landscape.
In the end, the two band members who survive only do so after embracing a vicious level of violence. The depraved result is reminiscent of LORD OF THE FLIES where everyone must succumb to savagery to have any hope of living.
