Pop Singer Calls Out Hollywood’s Stance on Abortion

By Tess Farrand, Staff Writer

In the early 2000’s, the pop girl group The Pussycat Dolls ruled the music scene with hit songs like, “Don’t Cha,” and “Buttons.” However, Kaya Jones, an alum of the group, is speaking out against the under the table pressures of abortion within the industry, and she’s not holding back.

In an interview with MRC, Jones freely gave her opinion on how Hollywood handles abortion. “They have a problem with capital punishment. They have a problem with the death penalty, but a baby, or a life that is so pure, doesn’t have any meaning?” Jones went on to detail how personal friends of hers have been strongly urged to get an abortion to protect their jobs and not taint their momentum with fandom. Jones said of a friend’s story, “She actually went forward with something because it was told ‘you were going to lose your job.’”

Thirteen years after leaving The Pussycat Dolls, Jones still sings and now adds to political conversations. Jones has appeared on Fox and Sean Hannity’s radio program to discuss her conservative stance, for which she has received plenty of flack. Last month, she released a song, “What the Heart Don’t Know,” in tribute to U.S. troops. In addition, Jones also doesn’t shy away from hiding her love of Jesus to her 201,000 followers on Twitter, frequently pointing them to faith.

She followed up with her disgust at the secret mistreatment of those in the industry who are encouraged to abort their unborn children. “That should say how evil our world has become, that someone who hurts other individuals, kills people or does something that’s completely wrong and just should be abolished in my mind, somehow holds more value than a very pure innocent life that was just a circumstance.”

It can be challenging to be a conservative in Hollywood, but Jones’ activism and resolve for biblical values is a breath of fresh air. In recent weeks, Oprah’s magazine championed the abortion movement, and shows like THE BREAK WITH MICHELLE WOLF have promoted abortion ad nauseam. The abortion issue has become more heated in recent years, so it’s key that we bear in mind the unshakable truth of the gospel.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” – John 10:10 (ESV)
