What You Need To Know:

THE LOVEBIRDS follows Jibran and Leilani, an unmarried couple living together who find themselves in the middle of a murder mystery. The couple accidently hits a bicyclist with their car. A man claiming to be a police officer comes to their rescue and then murders the man with their car. Meanwhile, Jibran and Leilani are left at the scene looking like the culprits. They flee the scene and must try to clear their names while not getting killed in the process.

THE LOVEBIRDS is a sad attempt at a murder mystery comedy. The script isn’t funny, and the main characters get themselves into the most unbelievable situations. Also, THE LOVEBIRDS features a strong pagan worldview. The main characters do whatever they want to clear their names without any real sense of morality. The glimmer of hope in the values department is that the couple loves each other and ends up together in the end. However, the script is plagued with lots of foul language and features an orgy cult at the center of the mystery. MOVIEGUIDE® deems THE LOVEBIRDS abhorrent.

More Detail:

THE LOVEBIRDS begins with Jibran and Leilani the night after their first date. They end up getting breakfast the next morning, and then the movie jumps four years in the future with Jibran and Leilani are fighting in their apartment about their sex life and whether they would make it on the show THE AMAZING RACE.

Jibran and Leilani are on their way to a get together with their friends when Jibran accidently hits a man riding a bicycle with his car. The man quickly gets up and rides away, and Jibran and Leilani are approached by a man telling them he was a police officer and they just hit a criminal on the run. The man takes Jibran and Leilani’s car, with them in it, and chases down the man on the bike.

When they catch up with the man on the bike, the man hits him with the car and continues to roll over him multiple times to kill him. The man gets out of the car to make sure he’s dead, and Jibran and Leilani realize they just witnessed a murder. The man pulls his gun intending to kill Jibran and Leilani, but sirens in the distance force him to run and leave Jibran and Leilani alone with the dead man.

Leilani picks up the man’s phone in a effort to find out who he is, when two strangers stumble upon the scene. They accuse Jibran and Leilani of murdering the man without understanding the situation, which prompts Jibran and Leilani to flee the scene in an effort to avoid arrest.

Jibran and Leilani find themselves in the middle of a murder mystery trying to clear their names and not get killed in the process.

THE LOVEBIRDS is a sad attempt at a murder mystery comedy. The script isn’t funny, and the main characters find themselves in the most unbelievable situations. The two main characters also seem a bit off their rockers, and it leaves the audience wondering how they’re smart enough to dodge the police and keep themselves alive, while trying to clear their names.

THE LOVEBIRDS features a very strong pagan worldview as the main characters kind of do whatever they want without any real sense of morality. The glimmer of hope in the morality department is that the couple loves each other and ends up together in the end. However, the script is plagued with lots of foul language and features an orgy cult at the center of the mystery. MOVIEGUIDE® deems THE LOVEBIRDS abhorrent.
