In an emotional Instagram post, HGTV star Nicole Curtis shared a heartfelt reflection about REHAB ADDICT’s 15 year anniversary and explained how the show has completely changed her life.
“15 years ago tonight, REHAB ADDICT made television history. True story, first unscripted home show led by a female (that’s me). I had about $100 to my name, no joke. I was hustling real estate, garbage picking antiques and selling them on craigslist and scooping up houses left for dead. I was 34 years old, I had a 12 year old son, a MySpace page, 2 dogs and a beat up Ford Ranger pickup ❤️,” Curtis wrote. “The rest is history – thanks for being here since day one. Excited to roll out new episodes… soon.”

Despite everything her show has done for her, Curtis remains rooted in her family and has prioritized her life outside of the show in recent years. In 2022, she even took a multi-year step back from the show so she could build her own production company to have more say in her schedule. This paid off this year when she was able to pause the show completely to spend more time with her family.
“I had a very chaotic ten years. I didn’t want to go down that path again,” Curtis told PEOPLE when explaining why she took a three year break from her show. “I’m hyper-focused right now on remembering where I want to be, what matters in my life, what my priorities are.”
“You cannot put a check in front of me that is going to take time away from my family,” she added in a later interview with Fox News. “So I think that’s absolutely the thing I would tell my younger self is that, you know what — you’ll figure it out. You’ll figure it out. And I did. [But] If I could get those years back, I would trade everything in a heartbeat.”
Now that it is the fall, though, Curtis is ready to get back into the hard work. Though she has yet to announce a release date for the next season of REHAB ADDICT, she has hinted it will come this fall.
“I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until Fall. I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice,” Curtis said in July when announcing she was delaying the show. “It’s just a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air and we (my family + me) thought, why are we giving up Summer when we have the ability to do this in the Fall? Thank you to the powers at be at HGTV that were receptive to our idea.”
Given her humble beginnings, it is encouraging to see how Curtis has remained grounded in what truly matters, rather than being blinded by the vanity of fame.
