Donna Kelce spilled her secrets for how she managed to juggle parenting two future NFL stars.

“I just had a calendar on my refrigerator and it said, ‘You need to be here at this time. This kid needs to be here at that time. We’re going away to West Virginia for a baseball tournament,’” she told PEOPLE. “However, you can do it…You have to have it out there. Otherwise, you’ll go insane. It’s a lot.”

Kelce, mom to NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce, also shared that “a good sense of humor” always comes in handy.

In an interview with ClutchPoints, she said that her sons have taught her some lessons over the years, as well.

“Perseverance. Through Jason and Travis, they taught me to never give up through the various struggles they’ve been able to overcome,” Kelce said. “Jason didn’t get a scholarship out of high school to play in college, and Travis, with his issues in college, but they taught me to keep going.”

The mom of two also spoke about parenting on a recent episode of GOT IT FROM MY MOMMA, which Movieguide® praised for its “moral worldview that celebrates strong family relationships.”

Kelce recently reflected on the changes that have taken place in college football since her sons played — some of which she’s glad they missed out on.

“That’d be a nightmare,” she told USA Today when asked what it would have been like if Jason and Travis had played during the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) era. “I’m just glad I don’t have to worry about it.”

NIL means college athletes can receive compensation for endorsements, sponsorships, autographs and personal appearances. It was first implemented in 2021.

“If you think about it, a lot of children with a lot of money, that’s just not a good thing,” Kelce explained. “And they don’t have help. Usually in professional sports there’s somebody there that can help you, like a financial planner or something. And I feel so bad because they have money that could probably last them, if invested properly, the rest of their lives.”

She continued, “I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be paid because colleges are making a lot of money on it. I just think that in my own opinion, it could have been thought about a little bit more in their favor.”

Kelce’s simple words of wisdom about juggling two high-achieving children are an encouragement to busy moms.
