University of Louisville baseball star Zion Rose consistently maintains a mindset of gratitude each time he takes the field.
“I love just to start my days off with the word and be meditating on whatever I learned that morning throughout the day,” Rose, who is an All-ACC player this year, told Sports Spectrum.

“And then just during the games, not out loud, but just in my head, ‘I love you. Thank you for this opportunity. Just thank you. Thank you for allowing me to be out here. Thank you for allowing me to be on the D1 team,’ playing just in a constant line of thankfulness to Him, just a constant reminder of what He’s done for me and what He wants me to do for others, so I think that helps me out a lot,” he explained of his faith mindset.

Rose missed a part of this season due to an injury, but when he returned to the field in March, he immediately became a standout player for the Cardinals.
In just his first three games, Rose had five extra-base hits, two home runs, 11 RBIs, one stolen base, one walk, zero strikeouts and had a .692 batting average.
He has made just as big an impact off the field.
The outfielder was named a finalist for the Tony Gwynn Trophy, which “is intended to honor collegiate baseball student-athletes who are active in their community and represent their programs with integrity, while excelling in the classroom and on the field,” the Louisville media team reported.
Rose has a “3.942 cumulative grade point average and was the 2025 NCAA Elite 90 Award Winner, handed out to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championship site,” the outlet continued. “Additionally, Rose has been a stalwart in the Louisville community throughout his career, volunteering his time with multiple organizations. Earlier this season, he was named a Co-Captain of the Lou Gehrig Community Impact Team.”
Rose’s faith is an anchor in his baseball career. His faith has shaped both his performance on the field and his character off it. By maintaining a constant mindset of gratitude and daily meditation, he navigates the inevitable highs and lows of collegiate sport s —including bouncing back from a regular-season injury to put up staggering, dominant numbers for the Cardinals. For Rose, faith is not just a personal ritual to give him some luck here and there but the thing in his life that drives everything else.
