In a rare display of public vulnerability, DUCK DYNASTY star and Christian public speaker Sadie Robertson Huff shared how God restored peace to her overwhelmed heart.
“I rarely ever truly cry publicly, much less post a video of me crying…In full transparency, I’ve also judged people in the past for posting videos of themselves crying, doubting the authenticity of the moment if they could pull out their phone and film themselves crying, yet here I am 🙃” she began in an Instagram video caption.
“This week, as I was prepping dinner, the kids went outside for a minute with Christian, and when the house was finally quiet, I lost it… I couldn’t stop crying. I was so overwhelmed by everything going on in my life, and the weight of it hit me,” Huff said.
She was supposed to prepare a message for an upcoming event, but she could not get through making dinner without being overwhelmed.
“God, why would you use a broken vessel like me?” she thought. “So, I got out my phone, recorded just a second to look back on and remember where I was in this season…how weak I really felt on Thursday, and how much I needed God’s strength to carry me to Sunday. So, here’s me chopping garlic on Thursday, crying, feeling overwhelmed, listening to worship music, and then showing up on Sunday ready.”

When she showed up for her message on Sunday, she felt restored and peaceful.
“I felt renewed in the Lord which is such an encouragement of new mercies in the morning,” Huff said. “I post this to show that no one knows what it looks like for people to show up where they are. I think that’s good for us to keep in mind, and I think grace would flow more freely if we would consider it for everyone who shows up anywhere today!”
In the video, she shows a clip of herself crying and then smiling in front of a mirror on Sunday, ready to speak.
“Everyone, and I mean everyone, is a human trying to overcome the same struggles in a day that everyone else is,” she added, sharing 2 Corinthians 12:9.
Earlier this year, Huff shared that fear can motivate you, instead of cripple you.
She wrote in a social media post, “there is a reason God said ‘do not fear’ to so many people so many times – because they were afraid!”
“That fear in them didn’t stop God from calling them to big things. It’s okay and even human to be afraid – just don’t let that stop you,” she wrote. “If you have to run with it – RUN WITH THE FEAR 🤍 you’re in the race!
Huff said it shouldn’t be your goal to live without fear; it should be to live with faith.
She shared her tearful video because she knows her failures can point back to God.
“The minute I allow God to use my failures I began to see the fullness of who He is,” she explained previously. “If my failures bring Him glory, I will gladly make them known.”
Thank you, Huff, for sharing!
