Lori Loughlin Sentenced to 2 Months in Prison

As of August, the former Fuller House and Hallmark star Lori Loughlin will serve two months in prison for her involvement in the college admissions scandal, which also involved Loughlin’s husband fashion designer, Mossimo Giannulli.

The couple pleaded guilty after months of denying the allegations that arose from $500,000 payments made to alleged mastermind William Rick Singer, founder of the for-profit college prep business, Edge College & Career Network.

Fox News previously reported

Singer, 58, has been called the “ringleader” behind the scheme, purportedly collecting roughly $25 million from dozens of individuals including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin over the course of nearly a decade to bribe school coaches and administrators into pretending their children were athletic recruits to ensure their admission into top tier colleges, prosecutors say.

The judge offered Loughlin the option to decide where she served her time. Loughlin chose FCI Victorville, a California medium-security federal correctional institution. According to the inmate handbook, Loughlin will live out her sentence in a dormitory-like unit at Satellite Prison Camp at the facility.

Along with the other inmates, the actress, 56, will also have access to what the handbook deems as “leisure programs,” which includes hobby classes such as yoga, pilates, ceramics, music lessons, a library, and an education center.

“Recreation leisure programs are provided to help develop positive lifestyles and fitness/wellness programs to help develop positive self-image,” the handbook reads under the “Recreation Department” tab.

Loughlin had starred on Hallmark’s WHEN CALLS THE HEART, but ties were quickly cut following the allegations.

Movieguide® reported in March of last year:

Thursday afternoon, Hallmark announced the news that they’re no longer working with actress Lori Loughlin. The decision comes after to her alleged involvement in the college admissions cheating scandal that headlined the news this week and involved over 40 other people.

Hallmark’s tweet reads, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions featuring Lori on the Crown Media Family Network channels – including #GarageSaleMysteries.”

Loughlin is required to pay a fine of $150,000 within 60 days of her August 21 sentencing date. After their release, both Loughlin and Giannulli will have to complete community service hours; 100 for Loughlin and 250 for Giannulli. In addition to the extra service hours, Giannulli must pay a larger fine of $250,000.

Moreover, for two years after her release, Loughlin will receive supervision and be prohibited from “incurring new credit charges or opening additional lines of credit without the approval of the Probation Office while any financial obligations remain outstanding.”
