+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
THAT THING YOU DO, written and directed by Tom Hanks, documents the rise of fictional band, The Wonders, from Erie, Pennsylvania. It clearly shows all the excitement and challenges of being in a band when rock was young and relatively clean. The Wonders rises to the top of the charts and even a TV appearance in Hollywood. Marred only by a few obscenities, this movie has a mild Christian worldview and demonstrates the struggle between artistic integrity and "selling out."

ARRIVAL is a very well made, beautifully crafted science fiction movie about coming into contact with aliens who give humans the gift of a new language. SHREK 2 contains a few inappropriate jokes and a politically correct tone, but it also has a light Christian worldview and many biblical, moral messages showing that magical spells and fairy tale enchantments cannot bring real happiness and extolling forgiveness, repentance, self-sacrifice, thinking of others before yourself, selfless love, honor, valor, and the courage to do the right thing.

ELLA ENCHANTED is a retelling of the Cinderella story that, although it has great potential to be involving and interesting for children, spends more time advancing a socialist political message than entertaining them. Anne Hathaway is the movie’s saving grace, but there is not enough there to entertain young children.
