Tim Allen On Ukraine Invasion: ‘This Is The Definition Of Wrong’

By Movieguide® Contributor

As the destruction and death count grows in Ukraine, actor Tim Allen is using his public platform to express support for the embattled nation.

Known for his starring roles in HOME IMPROVEMENT, TOY STORY, THE SANTA CLAUSE movies and more recently the Movieguide® Award-nominated show, LAST MAN STANDING, Allen took to social media to declare his “anger and disgust” at the military actions of Russia.

In a post on his Twitter account dated March 3, Allen mentions the Russian president by name in expressing his emotions about the situation:

My mind and body are full of anger and disgust at the coward putin ghouls that have attacked a sovereign country. This is the definition of wrong. My head, heart and soul pray for the people of Ukraine. …

Allen first tweeted a quote by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 24, the first day of the Russian assault:

“Appeasement” is the policy of feeding your friends to a crocodile, one at a time, in hopes that the crocodile will eat you last. – Franklin D. Roosevelt Pray if you will for all those attacked today by the Russians.

Allen is not the first celebrity to speak publicly in support of Ukraine. Evangelist Franklin Graham called for prayer, and actor Ashton Kutcher is actively posting on social media. His wife, actress Mila Kunis, immigrated from Ukraine as a child along with her parents and brother.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Ashton Kutcher is calling out the Russian media for “lying” amid the country’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

“If you know someone from Russia Call them and tell them their media is lying to them,” the actor tweeted. “Ukraine doesn’t want to fight, they just don’t want Putin’s government and don’t want to be occupied.”

Hollywood at large, along with the global music industry continues to cancel tour dates at Russian venues and theaters amid the invasion.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Artists like Imagine Dragons, Green Day, AJR, Eric Clapton, and Louis Tomlinson have all canceled shows in Russian and Ukrainian cities in light of the conflict. …

… In addition to canceled concerts, Russia is also losing out in movies. The Cannes Film Festival just announced that Russian delegates will not be welcome this year, while studios like Disney, Sony, Warner Bros, and Paramount are pulling their movies from Russian theaters.
