Rockstar Jon Bon Jovi recently revealed his grandpa name after welcoming his first grandchild earlier this year.
“Immediately you fall in love,” Bon Jovi said during an appearance on TODAY. “You know, when we met Jake and Millie’s daughter, it was just immediate. You’re like, ‘That’s my granddaughter.’”
Jake Bongiovi and STRANGER THINGS star Millie Bobby Brown announced they adopted a baby girl earlier this year, writing on Instagram, “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”
“She won’t be able to walk for at least 10 or 12 years because Papa will be carrying her everywhere she goes,” Bon Jovi joked, adding that “Papa” is what he plans for his granddaughter to call him.
Speaking to Sky News about becoming a grandparent, Bon Jovi said, “It’s crazy, it’s a beautiful thing and you feel a responsibility for your kids’ kids, and it’s beautiful, and the holidays will be that much brighter this year.”
“And we have a second one any day now,” he added, referring to his son Jesse and wife Jesse Light’s pregnancy. “If I get the call, my wife is outta here now because the second one’s coming next week.”
The rocker told Hello! Magazine, “It’s fantastic being a grandad… it’s another chapter…I’ve just kind of got used to dealing with my kids being grown. I still see them as two and three, and then they’re in their thirties and bring a baby around and you’re like, wow, that’s a reinvention.”
Brown has spoken about her strong desire to be a mother, telling the SMARTLESS podcast before the couple adopted, “My mom actually had her first child at 21 and my dad was 19. This has been my thing since before I met Jake. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
“Jake knows how important it is to me,” Brown added. “Of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me personally.”
A source close to the couple told People, “There’s no doubt that [Brown’s] a great mom. Pretty much everything she sets her mind to, she crushes. And they have really worked on creating this special family life in Georgia. She loves her farm — it’s going to be such a special place for the baby to grow up.”
“Even before they were married, she often spoke about her wish to be a young mom. And Jake was always on the same page. They’re in it together,” the source added.
With one granddaughter and another grandchild on the way, it looks like Bon Jovi is more than ready to add the title of “Papa” to his list of accolades.
