MIGHTY DUCKS Stars Josh Duhamel and Lauren Graham to Direct Season 2 Episodes

By Movieguide® Contributor

In a recent announcement, Disney+ confirmed for fans of THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS what they can expect from the upcoming second season.

Emilio Estevez is exiting the show, and TRANSFORMERS star Josh Duhamel will join the cast, though not replacing Estevez’s role as Coach Bombay.

Instead, the actor will be playing Gavin Cole, a former NHL player who runs the summer hockey school the team will be attending in the second season.

In addition to taking on a leading role, Duhamel will also be working behind the camera. He and co-star Lauren Graham (GILMORE GIRLS) will each direct an episode of the show.

Movieguide® previously reported on Duhamel joining the cast of the fun and sentimental show:

Actor Josh Duhamel (TRANSFORMERS, THINK LIKE A DOG) will take over the lead role in the upcoming season of Disney’s family-favorite, THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS.

In season two of the Disney+ original, Duhamel plays Gavin Cole, a former NHL player who coaches at an intense summer hockey institute where The Mighty Ducks hockey team land.

The change comes after Emilio Estevez departed in November 2021 due to a contract dispute over Disney’s vaccine mandate.

Disney will adjust the script to continue the story without Estevez’s character, Gordon Bombay. Lauren Graham will reprise her role as Alex, a single mom to her son Evan (Brady Noon).

THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS has received favorable reviews from Movieguide®, including the last three episodes of the first season:

The last three episodes of Season One are engaging, with high production values. They have a strong moral worldview promoting friendship, trust, fairness, loyalty, good sports-manship, and respect. The show has little offensive content, such as a lesbian couple and most of the bad behavior is rebuked. Overall, THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS is a high-quality program that can teach children how to positively deal with the pressures of sports, friendships, relationships, and family dynamics.
