BLUE BLOODS’ Donnie Wahlberg Shares Encouraging Bible Verse: ‘Don’t Be Afraid’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Donnie Wahlberg recently offered words of support from the Bible to those struggling with anxiety via social media.

“There is one phrase in the Bible that’s repeated 365 times. Do you know what it is? ‘Do not be afraid!’ the audio over Wahlberg’s Instagram video said.

“To whomever is struggling with fear today, I know a 15-second reel may not change your life,” he wrote in the caption. “I also know that it’s not easy to live without fear, worry or anxiety.”

Wahlberg explained that overcoming anxiety has been “something that I’ve worked on, and continue to work on, every single day since I was an anxiety riddled little kid.”

“That said,” the BLUE BLOODS actor continued, “If this reel can give you a little boost, a little bit of hope or even ease your worry for a brief 15 seconds — then it’s worth me sharing! Hang in there! You will make it through — you always do! Sending love your way.”

Wahlberg is currently on strike as part of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

BLUE BLOODS, where he stars as Danny Reagan, was renewed for a fourteenth season, but the strikes have delayed the new season to 2024.

Some were unsure if BLUE BLOODS would be renewed, but Wahlberg and the rest of the cast agreed to take a 25% pay cut so the show could continue.

According to Deadline, “The cast and producers had agreed to salary reductions in order to keep the show going and keep hundreds of crew and other support personnel whose livelihood depends on it employed.”

“I love BLUE BLOODS, and I think if there weren’t a season 14, the loyal fans of the show would be very, very outraged,” Wahlberg said of the show’s potential cancellation. “If the show were to go away without [the audience] having a proper sendoff … I think they would be mortified.”

Movieguide® previously reported on BLUE BLOODS’ upcoming fourteenth season:

The renewal makes BLUE BLOODS the network’s second-longest-running current scripted series after NCIS, which was recently renewed for its 21st season.

“The drama remains one of CBS’ most watched originals and anchors its Friday night primetime lineup. The show is broadcast’s No. 3 drama in total viewers, averaging more than 9.5 million per episode. With delayed viewing, that number grows to top 11 million,” The Hollywood Reporter adds

Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes and Len Cariou will all return along with Selleck for this upcoming season.
