Tauren Wells Explores Depth of God’s Love in ‘Crazy About You’

Grammy award-nominated artist Tauren Wells opened up to his fans on Instagram to explain the message behind his song “Crazy About You.”
“Have you ever considered just for a moment that the God who shaped the heavens and the earth, stretched out the expanses of the universe, was actually willing to lay down all of his majesty and power in the person of Jesus Christ so that you could spend eternity with him?” Wells wrote in an Instagram post.
“The thing with Jesus is that he didn’t start from the bottom,” the singer continued. “He actually started from the top and went low so that he could get to you because you are that valuable to him.”
In another post, he wrote, “Maybe for the first time, you’re hearing that God totally, fully, wholly, and perfectly loves you—not a future version of you, not you dressed up in your Sunday best, not the you that you want everyone to think you are—just you!”
“If you’re a woman reading this, it’s the no make-up, scraggly hair, socks-with-a-hole-in-the-toe version of you that He loves. He loves your personality, loud or quiet,” he continued. “He loves you when you’re frantic and when you’re at peace. He just loves you.”
“If you have a bunch of accomplishments, He’s proud of you, but He doesn’t love you any more or less because of them. He loves you when the house isn’t cleaned, when your closet looks like a bomb just went off, when you haven’t updated your calendar in a month—not the I’ve-got-it-all-together you—just you,” Wells explained.
“Fellas, all the same things apply to you, too,” he added. “He’s loved you in every season of your life up to this point, and he always will. Live anywhere you want, drive whatever you want, achieve whatever you want. All that is great, but it doesn’t mean He loves you any more or less. You can’t earn what someone has chosen to give.”
“If you’re not where you want to be in life yet, if you’ve struggled to make ends meet, if you haven’t thought much about goals and bottom-lines, then—you guessed it—He still loves you. In fact, He’s crazy about you!” the singer concluded.
Many of Wells’ followers commented on their love for the song, sharing their gratitude for the reminder that we are all loved by God.
“Amazing song to remind us of God’s powerful love for each and every one of us. Thank you for the wonderful reminder,” one fan wrote.
“I will never understand how He can love such a messed up person as me but have this feeling this certainty that He puts in my heart is what boost me up and makes me keep going. Thank you God for the love that I don’t deserve,” another follower wrote.
“It’s never been about what you do. It’s always been about what He’s done,” Wells shared.
A verse of his song “Crazy About You” reads, “He’s crazy about you/Died so you didn’t have to/Tore your failure apart/Now He wears your scars/That’s how much He loves you.”

If in His presence there is fullness of joy, why can’t we do things that demonstrate joyfulness like smiling, laughing, dancing and celebrating? And so that’s a part of what I do,” he explained.
Despite his success, Wells continues to rely on God.
“I want people to be able to engage with the voice of God every day. We need His voice. We need His voice, we need to be able to hear Him when He speaks, when He corrects, when He encourages, when He leads, we have to be able to listen.”
