On Monday night, the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets in a thrilling 27-21 victory, and shortly after the game, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa praised God for the victory.
“First and foremost, all glory belongs to God, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just want to thank Him for this victory, for keeping us safe for the most part. My prayers go out to all the guys that got injured tonight — my boy Tyreek,” the Dolphins quarterback told the media after the game.
“It was a team win. That’s all it was,” Tagovailoa added. “That’s all I could say about this. It was hard-fought to the end. Just wanted to make sure that I glorified my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

According to Crosswalk Headlines, Tagovailoa finished the game with 17 of 25 completed passes, a total of 177 yards and two touchdowns to help the Dolphins grab their first win of the season.
As a faithful follower of Jesus, the quarterback knows what it takes to lean on Christ in the midst of trials.
In 2023, as he recovered from a major concussion, Tagovailoa and his wife would read Scripture every morning.
“Me and my wife have something that we do every morning as we read a chapter of the Bible every morning together before we do our code punch deal,” he revealed in an interview with Sportskeeda. “But that’s been really, really helpful for us in a lot of the things that we’ve been going through with the challenges of the season, with the challenges of having a newborn son, with the challenges of family members.
“And it really helps strengthen our relationship with not only each other, but more so with our Heavenly Father,” he added. “One of our favorite Scriptures is 1 Corinthians 2:9. And what it says is, ‘For no eyes have seen and no ears have heard and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for you.’ And we always hold dear to that Scripture. We’re always reminded of it.”
Tagovailoa will continue to lead his Dolphins throughout the 2025 season, giving credit to God first and foremost. The Dolphins will travel to the Carolina Panthers this Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
