Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh Reveals 70 Players Baptized Last Season

By Movieguide® Contributor

Fresh off of a College Football Playoff National Championship, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed that 70 players from his team were baptized last season.

While at the 51st annual March for Life Rally in Washington D.C., Harbaugh revealed what led to that “mini revival.”

“You know, it’s our players. It’s our parents, our coaches, our staff,” Harbaugh told Jon Root. “There’s a spiritual mission within our team, and I’m inspired by that. You know, you see guys like Blake Corum and so many others but yeah, it’s inspirational. The young players on our team are incredible examples.”

“There are more than 100 players on the roster for the 2024 College Football Champs. Root said that indicates ‘a mini revival’ has been underway this past season with more than half of the Michigan Wolverines declaring their faith in Jesus by getting baptized in 2023,” CBN reported.

The coach also shared why he is open about his pro-life views despite the possibility of being canceled.

“Have the courage to let the unborn be born,” he said. “The testimony of so many here, of yourself, I’m just so thankful and grateful for that. This is a great day for a march. It’s a great day for the sanctity of life. And it’s football weather,” he added with a smile.

During his appearance at the march, Harbaugh introduced former NFL player turned pro-life advocate Benjamin Watson, calling him a “talented, courageous, fearless leader.”

“He is making a difference in the lives of so many,” Harbaugh continued. “It’s my pleasure to introduce somebody who speaks truth, clarity, and grace. Who combines bold conviction with kindness. [He is] fearless, humble and courageous. Proud father of the Watson seven, and a helpful warrior for the sanctity of life.”

“God’s word challenges us in the Book of Micah to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly before our God,” Watson said during his speech. “I believe that this is the essence of what it means to be with every woman and for every child.”

Speculation about whether Harbaugh will remain at Michigan or return to the NFL as a head coach has circulated. Harbaugh says he’s relying on God’s wisdom to make the decision.

“I just take the counsel from God and the Holy Spirit and Mr. Jack Harbaugh, my dad, and my wife Sarah,” he said. “But just taking the advice and just living one day at a time, you know.”

“One day at a time, one game at a time, one play at a time,” he concluded.

Movieguide® recently reported on Harbaugh:

The Michigan Wolverines’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh, led his team to its first College Football Playoff National Championship since 1997.

Despite missing six of the Wolverines’ 15 games due to suspensions this season, Harbaugh powered through adversity to keep his team undefeated.

After the win, Pastor Rick Warren shared on X, “Congratulations to Jim Harbaugh @CoachJim4UM for winning the National Championship in Houston last night, then catching a plane to L.A. so that at 3:15 am this morning he was doing quarterback drills with Chargers Justin Herbert in Sofi Stadium. He’s a Purpose-Driven Coach!”
