Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown scored two touchdowns in last Sunday’s win against the Detroit Lions, just days after his baptism on Friday.

“You know, all glory to God. Really, I just got baptized on Friday. So this whole weekend has been amazing for me,” he told reporters after the game on Sunday.

“I just give all the glory to God,” Brown continued. “I mean, I’m just here to serve. Thankful for this organization, just trying to get better each week and have some fun.”

Later in the press conference, Brown opened up about how he leaned on God while dealing with an injury last year.

“Last year, I had a lot on me — a lot on me mentally,” he revealed. “It all boils down to, ‘Don’t worry about the extra stuff.’ I felt myself second-guessing a lot of stuff, and as a believer, that’s not what I should do.”

Last fall, ESPN reported that Brown would undergo surgery for a sternoclavicular injury.

“Disappointed, frustrated, and Sad was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because Of my Faith in God,” Brown wrote on X at the time. “Knowing that this to shall pass, no matter the great opportunity I had in front of me. It’s not over and that’s not the path God wanted for me and I’m perfectly fine with that now.”

“I’m a follower of [God]. All of this is a blessing that’s from Him, and I don’t take it for granted,” he emphasized on Sunday, reflecting on the injury.

On Sunday, Brown secured two touchdowns to help the Chiefs defeat the Lions 30-17.

Brown finished the night with “four receptions for 45 yards and the two scores, bringing his 2025 totals to 30 receptions, 302 yards and three touchdowns. After a shoulder injury suffered in the preseason kept him out much of 2024 — his first season with the Chiefs — he signed a one-year contract extension in March to remain with the team, and he’s proving to be a valuable piece in Kansas City’s receiving corp,” according to Sports Spectrum.

Following the game, Brown shared several pictures from the night and wrote in the caption, “All Glory to God.”

Many people commented on his post, not just congratulating him on a great game but also on his baptism.

“1st game after being baptized and the lord blessed you with TDS and a win tonight,” one person wrote.

Another said, “Praise God! Good for you!”

Though the NFL certainly offers all the worldly goods anyone could want, it’s incredible to see an athlete seek Jesus first. Praise God for Brown’s decision to make a public declaration of his faith through baptism!
