THE CHOSEN Season 4 Gets Streaming Date: ‘The Wait is Finally Over’

By Movieguide® Staff

THE CHOSEN Season 4 will be available to stream June 2.

“The wait is finally over. The response from those who’ve seen Season 4 in theaters was that this is our best season, so I can’t wait to deliver these episodes free and easy to the world,” said Dallas Jenkins, the show’s creator, producer, director, and writer, in a press release.

Each episode will launch via a global livestream on THE CHOSEN app and social media before becoming available to stream at any time on the app.

“Episode one of Season 4 will be available for streaming beginning on Sunday, June 2. The second episode will be available on the following Thursday, June 6 at 8:30 p.m. ET, with ensuing episodes released on Sundays at 7 p.m. ET and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET over the course of four weeks,” the press release explains.

The Season 4 synopsis reads:

Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable – ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, He’s left with no alternative but demand his followers rise up.

Season 5 is currently filming, and Jenkins shared a glimpse into that experience and what fans can expect from the next season during a recent press conference.

“I’ve also just returned from Utah. The first 26 days of filming, we’re in Utah. We had 600 extras every day for three weeks. And we were able to film some of the most famous moments in Scripture,” he shared. “Season 5 covers Holy Week. And Holy Week includes the Triumphal Entry, it includes Jesus turning over the tables, it includes Jesus arguing with Pharisees in the temple.”

“It’s really shaping up to be our most impactful season yet,” he added.

The show continues to have a massive impact around the world.

“The fuel that keeps us going is the reaction that people are having to it,” Jenkins said. “This is a really hard show. It’s an exhausting show. The weight of it is immense. As the show expands around the world, I’m doing my best to not focus on the fact that now over 100 million people are watching it, that it’s being translated into dozens and dozens of languages.”

People in other countries are sharing how THE CHOSEN is changing their lives, something Jenkins calls “significant.”

“We’ve experienced a lot of just sacrifice, from the time that it takes [to] the energy that it requires. It’s a more than full time job,” he added.

However, as he interacted with the extras during filming, he was reminded of THE CHOSEN’s powerful impact.

“That fuels us for sure,” Jenkins reiterated. “And so that has been an extraordinary part of the process of this show is that there is this feedback loop constantly. That keeps us going. And it’s really been beautiful.”

Per the press release, “Viewers can watch the series for free in THE CHOSEN app, available for download on streaming players or devices including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, iOS, and Android. Additional streaming and broadcast options for Season 4 viewing will be announced soon.”

Movieguide® previously reported on what it was like to film the Triumphal Entry:

Dallas Jenkins, the writer, creator and director of THE CHOSEN, enlisted fans to help film a scene for Season 5 as he continues to push the boundaries of the Bible-based series and bring viewers the best experience possible.

Jenkins needed many extras to film the scene when Jesus makes his entry into Jerusalem on the first day of Holy Week.

“Palm Sunday will never be the same for any of us. This is one of the most beautiful moments of my life,” he said in a recap video on YouTube.

600 fans joined the cast and crew for three weeks to film the scene.

“Walking into Jerusalem was so much grander than I envisioned,” Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene, said.
