After a study revealed that more than a quarter of all Americans engage in the occult on a yearly basis, ex-psychic Jen Nizza warns that that spiritual world is not one to be messed with.
“Many people are going [to psychics and other tools] because they think it’s entertainment, but I want to argue something,” Nizza said. “As a former psychic, how sure are we that they don’t believe a little bit? How do we know that, when they go for a reading, it’s not like, ‘Oh, I wonder what they’re going to say or what’s gonna come out for me in the cards or the astrology chart?’”
“Whether you believe or not and you’re just doing it [or it is] for entertainment, you’re opening a demonic door, which is so heartbreaking,” she continued. “That’s the truth of it. If you’re going to use a tool of divination, you’re going outside of God’s boundaries.”
This warning is especially important today, as the study from Pew revealed that though 30% of Americans engage with the occult at some level at least once per year, only 1% of all practitioners heavily consider the results when making major life decisions. While nobody should be turning to the demon world for these decisions, this statistic reveals just how lightly Americans take the practice as they engage in the occult for fun.

This lighthearted approach is likely due to its rise in mainstream popularity. Though occultist practice have been popular for decades through the new age movement, during the pandemic, these beliefs exploded as the occult spread on TikTok, offering practitioners a sense of control during a time when people experienced chaos.
Witch influencers and other believers in the occult shared with their followers how to perform occult rituals and invite power into their lives. This power, however, comes from demons and is not something to be toyed with. The Bible is extremely clear that Christians should flee from witchcraft and that those who practice the occult are damned.
“I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people,” the Lord says in Leviticus 20:6.
Amazingly, the Lord will save those who practice the occult and welcome them into His kingdom if they forgo their old ways and commit themselves to Him. However, it is better to have never gone there in the first place, even if it is something done just for fun.
